Airport Cops Arrested By ACB For Rs 2 Lakh Bribe

Two police officers from the RGIA police outpost were arrested for demanding a Rs 5 lakh bribe and accepting Rs 2 lakh as part payment.
Hyderabad | 8th April 2026
In an anti-corruption crackdown, the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped two police officers from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Police Outpost for allegedly demanding a Rs 5 lakh bribe and accepting Rs 2 lakh as part payment.

Searches at the residence of Inspector Kanakaiah led to the seizure of Rs 33.97 lakh in cash and property documents which are now under scrutiny.

The accused, Sub-Inspector U K Siddeshwar and Inspector Sampathi Kanakaiah, were caught by the ACB's Ranga Reddy unit while accepting the bribe from a complainant. The money was allegedly sought to avoid implicating and arresting the complainant's family members in a case at the RGIA police station.

Both officers have been arrested and will be produced before the Special ACB Court in Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation, and the complainant's identity has been kept confidential for security reasons.
