Owaisi Says Lockdown Unscientific, Suggests Night Curfew
MIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the government approach to check Covid cases through a lockdown as unscientific and unhumanitarian.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeem (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi today criticized the government approach to check Covid cases through a lockdown as unscientific and unhumanitarian.
It would be better if a night curfew were imposed instead of the lockdown, as the lockdown was ruining the lives of people, in addition to resulting in police harassment for many people, turning a public health crisis into a law and order problem, he said in a tweet in Telugu.
The MIM chief expressed concern that street vendors, daily wage earners and small traders had already suffered a lot due to lockdown.
The virus could be fought with vaccinations and protocols and a night curfew, and mini-lockdowns could be imposed in Covid clusters, he suggested.
Owaisi made these remarks on the eve of KCR chairing a cabinet meeting at 2 pm in Pragathi Bhavan where a decision on extending the lockdown will be made.
Expectedly, Owaisi's tweet went viral as netizens welcomed his stance against continuing the lockdown.
