More than 20 former corporators of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) may join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the next week.
According to sources, as many as 21 former corporators of the TDP and five of the Congess have been approached by TRS leaders, who convinced them to join the ruling party.
They have been given an assurance that they would be given TRS tickets from the same divisions that they represented in the 2009 GHMC elections.
Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav are reportedly supervising the entry of the former corporators into the party.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, sources say, is more keen on admitting the TDP's former corporators. He reportedly spoke to a few of them, and asked them to get in touch with either Harish Rao or Talasani to confirm their joining, by January 10.
Sources further say that at least seven ex-corporators of the Congress are planning to join the BJP. (INN)
