Bowing to the people of Hyderabad for giving the TRS a huge mandate in the GHMC elections, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today asseverated that the government would construct 1 lakh double bedroom houses for the poor in the city, and keep all the manifesto promises.
"Unmindful of the Opposition's false campaign, the people of Hyderabad supported the TRS. The mandate has been given to us to govern the city well, and our leaders should avoid turning proud and headstrong, and instead feel even more responsible. We should work with total integrity to offer the best services avoiding corruption. And all those residing in the city are Hyderabadis, and should be protected as top priority," he exhorted.
"No party won more than 53 seats in the history of the GHMC, and the TRS victory can be attributed to combined efforts of the leadership and the journalists' families who also voted for us," he added.
The elections were conducted as per the High Court's directive, and the TRS did not violate any norms, KCR also said. He informed that a decision on the Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts would be taken soon.
KCR vowed to provide two reservoirs and island power facility for uninterrupted power supply, and create flyovers, skyscrapers and level separators on priority. He also said that he would keep all other promises like setting up of more rythu bazaars, markets and burial grounds. The government would deal with law and order violations with an iron hand, he promised.
Referring to CPI leader K Narayana's jibe (of cutting off his (Narayana's) ear if the TRS won a majority), KCR said that we would take it in a sportive manner. He appealed to the Opposition to respect te mandate and come on board to develop the city into a global destination.
