6 buses belonging to the APSRTC were damaged when angry students resorted to stone-pelting after police tried to stop their rally on Thursday.
The students of Osmania University had taken out the massive rally from the campus to Tarnaka, demanding the cancellation of examinations for recruitments to sub-inspectors' posts across the state until the deletion of Clause 14 (F) from the Presidential Orders.
Raising slogans against the government, the students proceeded towards Tarnaka, and staged a rasta roko there, disrupting traffic.
The police, however, stepped in and attempted to disperse the rallyists. This led to heated arguments between the police and the students.
The students resorted to stone-pelting and damaged 6 APSRTC buses. The students also pelted stones at a shopping complex and at
Aradhana theatre.
Sensing trouble, the police resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse them, in which 2 students – Raju and Madhav - sustained injuries and were shifted to hospital.
The police have mobilized additional forces to maintain law and order in the university and in nearby areas.
Meanwhile, police have imposed prohibitory orders in the city from Friday for a week.
Organising any kind of public meetings and processions in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad without obtaining prior permission has been prohibited till November 25 from Friday, Police Commissioner A K Khan said.
