Only Congress Can Fulfill Bifurcation Promises: Kiran Kumar
Speaking soon after rejoining the party after meeting Rahul Gandhi, the former CM of Andhra Pradesh said that his relationship with the Congress was unbreakable.
Former Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh N Kiran Kumar Reddy today said that his relationship with the Congress was unbreakable
He also claimed that the bifurcation assurances would be fulfilled only if the Congress came to power at the Centre. Special status to Andhra Pradesh was possible only through the Congress, he said, and alleged that the BJP-led NDA government had insulted the state by going back on the assurances given by the then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the Parliament.
Speaking soon after rejoining the party after meeting Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi, Reddy opined that the ruling and opposition parties in the state had utterly failed in getting the A P Reorganization Act implemented. He said that the Congress, which had crafted the Act, would implement it immediately upon coming to power.
Reddy said that his family had got recognition only due to the Congress. "My father won four times, and I won four times as MLA too, just because of the Congress. I enjoyed positions like Chief Whip, Speaker and Chief Minister because my family had close relations with the Gandhi family. I was a close associate of former Chief Minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. I am feeling happy at coming back to the party fold. I am ready to perform efficiently in any position given to me by the party. We are striving to get about 30 to 40 leaders back to the fold of the party," he said.
