Former Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh and Congress leader N Kiran Kimar Reddy today joined the BJP in the presence of union minister Prahlad Joshi, Arun Singh and K Laxman.
Speaking on the occasion, Joshi said that Reddy was starting a new innings by joining the BJP, and that the entry of Reddy would strengthen the party in Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy said that he had joined the BJP for its nation-building and party alleviation programs. He said that the BJP had emerged as a strong party due to the hard work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union home minister Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda.
He alleged that the Congress high command was not even holding discussions on issues like strengthening the party, with its leaders, and that he was severing his family's six-decade-long association with the Congress due to unavoidable circumstances.
He claimed that the Congress had lost power in the country due to its wrong decisions, and had failed to rectify its mistakes while the BJP had a clear strategy for development of the country. He also pointed out that the party had gotten wiped out in AP after the bifurcation of the State despite his remonstrations.
