No Stop To Police Tests: Rosaiah

Chief Minister K Rosaiah said that the police recruitment tests would take place as scheduled, except in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad | 19th November 2010
Brushing aside the demands of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and other parties for the cancellation of sub-inspectors recruitment tests until the free zone issue was resolved, Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Thursday stated that the government would go ahead with conducting the test across the state except Hyderabad.

Talking to media persons after reviewing the situation with Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Director General Of Police K Aravinda Rao, City Police Commissioner A K Khan and other top level officials, the Chief Minister said that the government was committed to delete Clause 14 (F) in the Presidential Orders, and was working towards this with sincerity.

Rosaiah recalled that after the delivery of the Supreme Court verdict on Free Zone, the government had convened an all-party meeting in the Assembly within 24 hours to resolve the issue.

The Chief Minister said that he had spoken to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram over the issue on Thursday also.

Rosaiah stated that the need to recruit additional staff in the police force was acute since the government could not handle the law and order situation with the present meagre staff.

The Chief Minister said that 18,300 candidates qualified for the test, and the test would be conducted across the state except at Hyderabad zone, and added that the government took this decision considering the interests of other districts and aspirants.

If the government postponed the test, some aspirants could not attend the test as they would have crossed the age limit, the Chief Minister added.

Reiterating his government's commitment to the welfare of people, Rosaiah advised leaders from other parties not to politicize the issue to get mileage.

Rosaiah also accused opposition leaders of looking at issues through a magnifying glass.

Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said that 445 posts announced in the zone-6 would be recruited as per the notification.

In the notification, Hyderabad was clearly mentioned in the Zone-6, and no injustice was done to Telangana people, Reddy pointed out.
