Congress observer and Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, on Tuesday, stated that he had come from New Delhi with a mission to strengthen the party from the gram level to the district level.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan after receiving complaints and suggestions from all leaders, Vayalar Ravi said that his main aim was to strengthen the party at all levels.
Stating that he had received several complaints and suggestions from various leaders, including Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, ministers, MLA, MLCs and other senior leaders, Vayalar Ravi observed that the leaders have admitted that the party has totally failed to take government programs and schemes to the doorsteps of the people and popularize them at the ground level.
Vayalar Ravi said that the leaders had also voiced their concern over the filling up of party and nominated posts to increase morale among sincere and loyal workers.
He said that he would take up the issues raised by all the leaders, with the high command.
He condemned media reports that said that the High Command might change either the Chief Minister or the PCC chief. Rubbishing the reports, he said that there would be no change in the Chief Minister or the PCC chief in the state, and that they were working well after having sunk their differences.
Responding to a question on why Congress in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad did not come to AP, Vayalar Ravi said that Azad was busy with other work, and that therefore, the High Command had deputed him to submit a report on the latest political situation in AP before the by-elections.
Vayalar Ravi said that former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy belonged to the Congress, and that he would always remain an asset for the party. Responding to allegations of corruption against YSR, he said that it was improper to discuss allegations on a person who was dead.
He also said that the Congress has not taken any decision over targeting the YSR Congress in the by-elections.
Responding to a question on YSR congress party president Jaganmohan Reddy affecting the Congress' chances in the coastal districts, he said that the strategy would be chalked out at the PCC level instead of taking this to the AICC level.
Regarding the Telangana issue, he said that he had ccme to Hyderabad to discuss the party's affairs and not to take up discussions on the Telangana issue. The High Command will take a decision on Telangana soon, he said.
Vayalar Ravi said that he would also join the by-elections campaign to be launched in the state. (INN)
