Naidu Already Knew Centre Was Reneging: YSR Congress
The YSR Congress Party said Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu already knew that the Centre would renege on its promise of Special Status to the State.
Accusing Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of changing his stance on Special Status for Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress Party MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy expressed his doubts over the CM's honesty when the latter said that he was unaware of the Centre reneging on its promise.
Speaking to the media on Monday in Parliament, Reddy said, "During the elections, Naidu wanted the Special Status for AP for 15 years. Now he says that it isn't a priority. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that it is not possible to grant Special Status to the State. The BJP and TDP are playing in a sticky wicket."
He also accused Naidu of making false promises during the election campaign. Both the BJP and TDP were indifferent towards the issue, he alleged.
YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy appealed to all sections of the society of the State to take part in the bandh on August 2, to protest the denial of Special Status.
