Ponnam claims that the MIM is against the statehood demand, and that Owaisi has been trying to convey the impression that the entire community supports him.
Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday claimed that Muslims in the Telangana region are in favour of statehood for the region.
Talking to reporters here, Ponnam said that the Muslim community in all districts of the region is completely in favour of Telangana. He said that Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi is against the statehood demand, and that he has been trying to convey the impression that the entire community supports him.
He said that the MIM's objection would not prevent the Centre from taking a decision in favour of the formation of a Telangana State.
The Karimnagar MP also said Seemandhra leaders must refrain from making provocative statements on the statehood issue. He also alleged that Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao was issuing anti-Telangana statements only to exhibit his frustration over the denial of berth to him in the Union Cabinet. (INN)
