Hyderabad | 17th October 2019
YSR Congress Party MLA Dadisetty Ramalingeswara Rao (referred to popularly as Raja), representing Tuni in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, was today booked in the murder of a journalist of the Andhra Jyothi newspaper, K Satyanarayana, in Thodangi mandal of the East Godavari district on Tuesday.

Satyanarayana, who was reportedly running articles in the newspaper against the MLA, was stabbed Tuesday night on his way home.

Raja had apparently threatened after the Assembly elections to kill the journalist.

Five others were booked in the murder case apart from Raja.

The Press Council of India (PCI) took suo motu cognizance of the murder, and issued notices to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh, to file a report immediately. PCI Chairman C K Prasad expressed serious concern over the murder of Satyanarayana.

The DGP, Gautam Swang, reportedly asked the police to investigate the case on priority.
