The Medipally police today arrested YSRTP founder president Y S Sharmila.
The police also declined permission to her protest program at the Boduppal ground. This led to some tense movements in the area.
Sharmila had gone to the area to visit the family members of Ravindra, who committed suicide recently, and consoled them.
She later sat for a protest program at Boduppal, and announced that her deeksha would continue till the evening. However, the police denied her permission.
She then tried to go to the Medipally police stattio to ask the reasons for the denial of permission. However, the police stopped her followers and her from going to the police station.
Angered at this, Sharmila sat for a dharna on the road along with her party workers. Left with no option, the police arrested her and took her to the police station.
Upon receiving information of her arrest, scores of her supporters and party workers reached the Medipally police station and raised slogans in her support. Following this, the police shifted her to the Ghatkesar police station.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharmila alleged that CM K Chandrashekar Rao was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of unemployed youth, and that she was denied permission for her protest as she was exposing the failures of the state government.
Targeting rival parties, she claimed that some opposition political parties, after sleeping for the last couple of years, were now coming in front of the people of the state, after she started taking up issues.
Targeting TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, she wondered why the people of the state should believe a person who could not visit the family members of a suicide victim belonging to his own constituency.
She asked whether scores of people would have died if the Congress had played the role of a strong opposition party, and alleged that the Congress had sold itself to the TRS.
She also alleged that Revanth Reddy was acting completely at the behest of TDP president Chandrababu Naidu.
