A 45-year-old man was butchered by three unidentified persons on the main road of the Ghansi Bazaar area in the Old City late on Tuesday night.
According to the Charminar police, the victim, identified as Ravi alias Peter Ravi, a resident of Ghanzi Bazaar, was fatally stabbed in a lane near Bhagwan Devi Hospital at 11 pm on Tuesday.
Ravi, who had been an activist of a regional political party earlier, had been living alone for the last three years.
The gory scenes of the murder were recorded in CC cameras. Police officials said that the motive for the murder might be old rivalry, and that the suspects were still to be identified.
The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The Charminar police have booked a case and taken up investigation.
