Lok Satta party president Katari Srinivasa Rao shoots down TDP's policies that were revealed in the recent Mahanadu
"The Telugu Desam Party has failed to unveil any new policies to bail AP out of the current, all-round crisis that the state is going through", charged State Lok Satta Party president Katari Srinivasa Rao on Thursday.
In a media statement, Srinivasa Rao said that TDP president Chandrababu Naidu is trying to rehash his old policies in a new format, going by proceedings at the Mahanadu in Gandipet on May 27 and 28.
Katari Srinivasa Rao said that the TDP continues to swear by the debt waiver for farmers as a panacea for the agricultural crisis, instead of advocating freedom to farmers to sell their produce anywhere, and at prices that they have decided for themselves.
"It (TDP) talks about giving party tickets to some rich BC candidates in elections, instead of entrusting them with key posts or providing quality education and skills to millions of ordinary BCs, and overhauling the reservation system to bring them justice," he said.
Although the TDP sings paeans of its founder N T Rama Rao, it remains silent on his pet dream of empowering local governments with devolution of powers and resources, alleged Srinivasa Rao.
"The TDP has not clarified how many ordinary youths will benefit from the allocation of 33% of party tickets to the youth, seeing how it was the children of party leaders, including those of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, who hogged the limelight at the Mahanadu," he said.
The Lok Satta leader said that the TDP, which is as guilty as the Congress, for plunging the state into a crisis over the topic of Telangana, has failed to come up with a solution for the same.
"Further, the TDP promises to abolish belt shops (illegal liquor outlets). It has forgotten that belt shops flourish as long as the retail liquor trade continues to be in the hands of private operators.
"Chandrababu Naidu, who talks of a third front coming to the power at the Centre, and the TDP playing a pivotal role in it, has failed to address the likelihood of a coalition government emerging in the state as well," he said
Srinivasa Rao finally debunked the party's claim that its income in 2012-13 was only Rs. 2.10 crore while the net expenditure was Rs. 5.40 crore.
"If the party reveals how it managed to conduct its Mahanadu and padayatras on such a meager budget, the Lok Satta would like to emulate it and strengthen itself", Rao said sarcastically. (INN)
