Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA from Uravakonda, Payyavula Keshav, on Wednesday claimed that the outcome of the Legislative Council elections from the Local Authorities Constituencies (LAC) was a clear pointer that the people of the state have rejected the Congress due to the rampant prevailing corruption.
Talking to mediapersons at Assembly mediapoint, the TDP MLA said that the internal squabbling and groupism in the Congress has cost the party dear, and has ultimately benefited the TDP in the council elections.
Keshav pointed out that the TDP had earlier managed to win only 1 seat in the council, but its presence has increased to 3 now.
The senior MLA said that the election results clearly indicate that the Congress was losing its sheen due to the the party's groupism. The Congress will soon bite the dust and would be completely wiped out from the state, he predicted.
Keshav also stated that the TDP has given a tough and healthy competition to both the Congress and the candidates backed by the YSR Congress Party launched by former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
This was despite the fact that the independent candidates backed by Jaganmohan Reddy tried to lure the voters through money, the TDP MLA claimed. He further alleged that both the Congress and YSR Congress Party leader have looted the state by resorting to various illegal methods.
