Congress activists today staged a mock funeral of BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy in Shamshabad in protest against his remarks about Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
The event was organised by Nagender Reddy, president of the Rangareddy District Youth Congress.
The activists warned the BRS that if the MLA did not issue an unconditional apology, he would face strong backlash and be obstructed in his movements.
Nagender Reddy said that while the public was pleased with the initiatives and development projects being undertaken by the State government, BRS leaders were unable to accept this progress, and had resorted to baseless criticism of the Chief Minister.
For the unversed, the BRS MLA has repeatedly lashed out at Revanth Reddy, accusing him of plotting to implicate BRS leaders in a fake drug scandal, and now of tapping phones of opposition leaders and his own ministers. He also claimed that the CM was stoking regional tensions in Hyderabad to benefit Amaravathi, and undermining Telangana's legacy by abusing ex-CM K Chandrashekar Rao.
Kaushik Reddy has also alleged that the CM had misled the Assembly and mocked the judiciary, and should face preventive detention given his history of FIRs.
The BRS MLA also dismissed the Congress's defamation complaints against him as political vendetta. He has also said that by-elections were inevitable, and predicted legal victories for the BRS in ongoing disqualification cases.
