Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Bonthu Rammohan today said that the criminal cases would be registered against those who tried to reconstruct the structures that were razed during the GHMC's demolition drive.
Addressing a meeting attended by the GHMC and town planning officials and civil engineers, Rammohan said that some of the owners of the illegal structures were trying to re-construct them. He warned such people of legal consequences, and added that the municipal body was within its rights, under the directives of the High Court and the Telangana government, to raze dilapidated structures and illegal buildings along stormwater drains, and that going against the court and the government was a serious offense.
GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy welcomed the Mayor's decision to take legal action against such groups and individuals.
