Road Repairs, Demolition Drives In Telangana Soon
Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao directed officials to start repairing the flood-hit roads and other infrastructure in rest of the State.

Taking a cue from minister K T Rama Rao's and the GHMC's works in Hyderabad in handling the aftermath of the heavy rains and floods, Telangana Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao today directed officials of his ministry to start repairing the flood-hit roads and other infrastructure in the rest of the State, too.
The minister also directed them to demolish illegal constructions on the lines of what the GHMC was doing in Hyderabad, and asked them to file criminal cases against encroachers, depending on their economic position, if necessary.
The minister, who is reviewing the conditions of the damaged roads and buildings in various parts of the State, said that a total of 73 government buildings, of which 41 were located in the Medak district, 15 in Mahbubnagar, six each in Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda, four in Khammam and one in Karimnagar, were severely damaged due to the incessant rainfall.
Rao also said that 1,524 roads across the State adding up to 17,000 km were damaged due to the floods. They included 402 km of roads in the Medak district, 358 km in Nalgonda, 225 km in Ranga Reddy, 192 km in Mahbubnagar, 53 km in Adilabad, 29 km in Karimnagar, 91 km in Warangal, 91 km in Khammam and 83 km in Nizamabad.
Rs. 49.61 crores were needed to take up temporary repair works, he said.
