Telangana Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy today urged the Centre to take steps to set up an AIIMS in the state and provide the necessary funding for the same.
The state minister was in Delhi to attend a meeting chaired by Union Health Minister J P Nadda on food safety, and appealed to him to take a decision on the pending issue of the setting up of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Telangana.
He also sought the union minister's assistance in getting funds to set up new medical colleges in the Mahabubnagar, Siddipet, Nalgonda and Suryapet districts of the state.
Speaking to the media later, Reddy said that his government was taking steps to modernize the government hospitals in Telangana with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. He also said that the state government was working towards improving the health of its people by focusing on health and hygiene simultaneously.
