Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha today approved the establishment of a medical postgraduate centre with 50 seats in Husnabad.
During his visit to the Husnabad constituency, Rajanarasimha, accompanied by ministers Thummala Nageswara Rao, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, laid the foundation stone for a 150-bed hospital and later inaugurated a 100-bed maternal and child care facility.
The ministers' programme also included the launch of the Phase-2 construction of a four-lane road, with a budget of Rs 77 crore allocated for the stretch from Husnabad to Sundaragiri, and Rs 80 crore for the segment from Sundaragiri to Kothapalli.
Speaking to the media later, Rajanarasimha said that after the Congress assumed power in Telangana, eight medical colleges and sixteen nursing colleges had been established.
He also said that there was a need for a nursing college in every constituency, and that more such institutions were expected to be developed soon.
