IT and Municipal Minister K T Rama Rao today appreciated a boy named Bolugula Chandu, 19, of Bachannapet in Jangaon district for clinching a gold medal in a Kung Fu international tournament held in Nepal recently.
Previously, upon getting information through a reporter, the minister had offered financial assistance to Chandu to enable him to compete.
KTR extended congratulations to Chandu, who made the best use of the minister's support and won gold in the event.
Chandu had previously won a Kung Fu championship in Goa, and that earned him an opportunity to participate in Nepal tournament. In addition to KTR's financial help to compete in that next tournament, some Nepal locals too contributed Rs 50,000.
Chandu won the fight in Nepal 5-1 against Korea, and brought laurels to the state of Telangana.
Chandu is studying in the first year of a degree course in the Warangal Sainik College. His father is an auto driver, and his mother sells maize, for their livelihood.
