The "Gift a Smile" program, initiated by BRS working president K T Rama Rao on the occasion of his birthday, helped an MBBS student Sushmita get financial support from a doctor couple.
Sushmita, a student at Osmania Medical College, hailing from Venkatapur in Aija mandal of Jogulamba Gadwal district, had sought financial assistance for her studies by posting a request on KTR's official X handle. Her plea caught the attention of KTR, who promptly promised to help.
Moved by the appeal and the "Gift A Smile" initiative, renowned neurophysician Dr Chandra Shekhar Pathakoti and his wife Dr Pranaya Vani pledged to bear the full cost of Sushmita's education. On Sunday, they extended financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to her.
Sushmita, accompanied by her family, met KTR and expressed her gratitude. On the occasion, KTR congratulated the doctor couple and felicitated them with a shawl in appreciation of their gesture.
Dr Pathakoti, a native of Rajakkapet in Dubbaka mandal, currently practices at the Musheerabad Care Hospital and the Nacharam Sripooja Hospital.
