BRS working president K T Rama Rao today wrote an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy demanding that he hold a discussion on the controversial Formula E race issue in the Assembly.
In his letter, KTR claimed that the State government had been making a number of baseless allegations against the previous BRS government, and especially against him, over the past few months regarding the race event.
"There were also news reports stating that an hour-and-a-half-long discussion on the matter was held at the Cabinet meeting chaired by the CM this week. If there is a debate on this issue in the Assembly, in front of four crore people rather than behind closed doors, everyone will know what the truth is," he wrote.
KTR mentioned in the letter that the previous government had entered into an agreement with the organisers of the Formula E race with the good intention of benefiting Telangana and Hyderabad. He added that the race had contributed around Rs 700 crore to the State's economy, according to a report by Nielsen.
"Another round of the race was scheduled in 2024, but it was unilaterally cancelled as soon as your government came to power. Since then, your government has been spreading numerous falsehoods about this race through the media as part of political vendetta, creating misconceptions about the event. The Formula E race deal was entirely transparent. I have already explained that payments to the race organisers were made transparently. However, your government continues its propaganda. The people of the State have the right to know the truth. Therefore, I demand that you hold a discussion on this issue in the Assembly so that the truth will be revealed," he wrote.
