Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today laid the foundation stone for the Gokaldas Images garments manufacturing unit at the Sircilla Apparel Park near Peddur.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that Sircilla would be developed as a model for its flourishing textile sector.
The minister added that soon the district would be the place that would provide 10,000 jobs to local youth, specifically to local women of the weaver community who would then be abele to get stable monthly revenues.
Rao stated, "In the coming days, 80% of the women of the local weaver families will get jobs at the apparel park. We are proud to announce that Sircilla will get back its past glory, seeing full employment and better lives. The people of the town have been dreaming of an apparel park for a long time. In 2005 then-Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had promised to set up a park, but did not ultimately do so. However, in the following years, our government promised to set it up. And, today we have."
Revealing more about the upcoming manufacturing hub, he claimed, "The apparel park will be equipped with world-class facilities. Employees will get mostly wages of at least Rs 12,000. They will also get transportation facilities. Our government will provide the best facilities and infrastructure for apparel manufacturing. The park will be built on a 60-acre plot. It will start production in the next six months and will produce export-quality clothes."
"Our government is committed to the development of the weaver community in the state. We want to protect their interests also through insurance facilities. Like farmers get an insurance of Rs 5 lakh, the weavers too will get the same amount in case of the death of the head of the household," KTR announced.
During the ceremony, the minister, along with Gokaldas MD Samir Hinduja and some government officials, the minister participated in the bhumi pujan for the company's new unit.
After the program, an elated KTR published a post on his social media that reads, "Laid foundation stone for Gokaldas Images Apparel Factory at Sircilla Apparel Park. Gokaldas Images will set up a 500-machine stitching unit which will make men's and women's garments. The agreement for the same was signed between the Government of Telangana and Gokaldas Images
