BRS leader Manne Krishank today called on the Telangana government to release a white paper detailing the investment commitments secured during Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's recent Davos tour for the World Economic Forum.
Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, Manne accused the Chief Minister of making exaggerated claims about the outcomes of the high-profile visit, calling it a "bogus exercise" filled with empty promises.
"Revanth Reddy must explain how many agreements signed at Davos last year have turned into reality. The government had then announced investment commitments worth Rs 40,000 crore, yet none has materialized. Where is the accountability?" Manne asked.
The BRS leader claimed that agreements signed then with Adani, JSW, Godi India and others remained unfulfilled and only on paper.
Manne also alleged that the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) issued misleading statements about agreements signed at Davos. Referring to a deal claimed with Sun Petrochemicals MD Dilip Shanghvi, Manne said, "The person in the photo with Revanth Reddy wasn't even Shanghvi. Can a Chief Minister mislead people like this?"
He also criticized the lack of transparency about Ursa Cluster, a company which reportedly pledged Rs 5,000 crore in investments. "How can a company with no online presence whatsoever make such claims? Is this another bogus investment like Swacch Bio, Godi India and Walsh Karra?" he asked.
Manne also alleged that the government was trying to hand over the Musi development project to Meinhardt, whose MD reportedly had a red warrant issued against him. "Revanth Reddy met this individual in Davos. Is this the kind of credibility we want?" he asked.
Demanding transparency, Manne called for a white paper on the status of all agreements signed during the Davos visits. "People deserve to know the truth. Stop hiding behind numbers and come clean about what these investments have actually achieved for Telangana," he asked.
Manne also accused the CM of hypocrisy, pointing out that when the latter was in the opposition he had dismissed the Davos meets as benefiting companies rather than the people, but was now praising Davos. "Even former PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy had criticized such tours. Isn't this hypocrisy?" he said.
He also accused the CM of taking credit for investments made during K Chandrashekar Rao's regime. "Amazon's investments were secured under KCR, yet Revanth Reddy is now claiming them as his own. This is nothing but a publicity stunt," he said.
Mocking the CM meeting Telangana industrialists in Davos, Manne said, "Revanth Reddy is meeting Megha Krishna Reddy and Pitcha Reddy in Europe. Do we need to go to Davos for this? It's like a destination wedding where the bride and groom are locals but get married elsewhere. These Davos deals could have been made in the CM's Jubilee Hills residence."
Manne also took the opportunity to credit former CM KCR and IT Minister K T Rama Rao for improving Telangana's infrastructure, which he claimed attracted the investment commitments in Davos for data centres.
"Before 2014, industries protested due to power shortages. Telangana, under KCR, became a power-surplus State, enabling such investments. Revanth Reddy doesn't even have the courage to acknowledge this," he claimed.
