The Telangana government today signed an agreement with noted apparel manufacturer Gokaldas Images after the latter proposed to set up a manufacturing unit in the state's Rajanna Sircilla district. The unit will reportedly provide employment to 1,100 people in the region.
The company's representatives signed an agreement with the state's industries department in the presence of IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao at the Pragathi Bhavan.
After speaking with the officials of the company regarding its decision to invest in Telangana's apparel sector, the minister revealed more details about the same.
He said, "This new unit will surely boost the clothing and apparel sector in our state, and will provide employment to 1,100 persons directly. Of this, 75% of the jobs will go to women. Our government will provide all the infrastructural support needed to develop the company, and the sector in general. We hope to be able to offer the skilling necessary for jobs in the sector to the women and the youth of the region."
Rao then thanked the apparel company for deciding to invest in Telangana, and added, "Gokaldas Images is a prominent company with forty years of industry experience, and is recognised at the national level. It is known for its large-scale production of ready-to-wear garments. We are happy that the company has now decided to set up shop in Telangana's Siricilla Apparel Park. The investment will propel economic growth in the region."
The minister directed the concerned officials to issue all the necessary permits and sanctions to the company to enable it to start operations as early as possible.
Gokaldas Images MD Sumir Hinduja stated that the friendly and cooperative atmosphere in Telangana was a boon to businesses looking to invest in the state, and added that the company was looking forward to working in the region.
The investment is a major one, and will help the upcoming Siricilla Apparel Park, being built over 65 acres, establish itself as a textile hub.
