Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao today stated that the TRS government was committed to addressing the traffic problems in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Rao inaugurated a six-lane flyover, to be called the Babu Jagjivan Ram Flyover, at Hyderabad's busy Balanagar cross-road. He participated in the ceremonial ribbon-cutting along with Shivamma, a worker who had been a part of the project.
Speaking on the occasion after paying floral tributes to Jagjivan Ram, he said that the launch of the flyover would go a long way in easing the current traffic snarls in the area.
"Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) built this flyover at a cost of Rs 385 crore. The 24-metre wide flyover covers a stretch of 1.13 km and has 26 pillars. This new flyover will surely ease traffic woes and vehicular congestion in this busy area, enabling commuters to enjoy lightning-fast road travel. Our government is working hard to resolve all traffic-related issues in Telangana. It is to achieve this that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is planning infrastructure developments under the Strategic Road Development Plan," Rao, who had laid the foundation stone for this project on August 21, 2017, gushed.
"Our government is ready to construct more such flyovers as wells as roads and underpasses in future. Soon, we will build another flyover connecting the Suchithra area and the Patney Centre in Secunderabad. Unfortunately, work on the construction of skyways is yet to proceed as the Centre's negligence in sanctioning the same has been a major hindrance. It has not yet allocated lands for the project," he added.
Ministers T Srinivas Yadav and Malla Reddy, MLAs Krishna Rao and Vivek, GHMC Mayor G Vijayalakshmi, and several other officials were present for the ceremony.
The TRS regime has been actively involved in working to ease vehicular congestion on Hyderabad's streets - KTR recently
inaugurated four link roads connecting important areas along the city's IT corridor.
A link road leading from the Nizampet crossroads to the Hitex junction, another from the Miyapur Metro Depot to the Kondapur Masjid junction, one from the Novotel Hotel road to the RTA office, as well as one leading from the J V Hills Park to Masjid Banda road were thrown open to the public on June 28.
