Telangana Municipal Administration and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today inaugurated four link roads connecting important areas of Hyderabad's IT corridor.
A link road leading from the Nizampet crossroads to the Hitex junction, another from the Miyapur Metro Depot to the Kondapur Masjid Junction, one from the Novotel Hotel road to the RTA office, as well as one leading from the J V Hills Park to Masjid Banda road were thrown open to the public today.
Speaking on the occasion, KTR said, "Hyderabad is developing rapidly in every way. The four link roads that have been inaugurated today have been developed at a cost of Rs 27.43 crore to ease vehicular congestion in the city. Six more roads are nearing completion and will be opened to commuters soon. Our government has focused on road development as roads play a key role in urban growth. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has always stood for speedy progress, and has promoted the development of roads, and other basic facilities and infrastructure. To cater to the growing traffic in the city, we will continue to construct more missing link roads. A total of Rs 6,000 crore is to be spent on the strategic road development plan. After the first phase of this, which was completed by spending Rs 13 crore and building about 37 roads, we will now take up the second phase of the plan with a budget of Rs 65 crore. Further, Rs 232 crore has been sanctioned for the implementation of other subsequent phases of the plan."
"We hope that the roads built under the plan will ease the rush on the main roads and highways. No other states have taken up such intensive infrastructure strengthening measures. Telangana meanwhile aims to build 134 link roads," he added.
