Senior Congress leader and MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today taunted TPCC chief Revanth Reddy by asking why home guards needed to campaign for the party candidate in the Munugodu Assembly constituency when the leaders of the SP's stature were campaigning.
He also said that he would not campaign for the party in the by-election.
Speaking to media persons after casting his vote at Gandhi Bhavan in the party president's elections, Komatireddy termed himself a home guard, and said that there was no need for leaders of mere home guards' stature to campaign for the party candidate.
It was a reference to Congress leader Addanki Dayakar's comparison of Komatireddy to a home guard in August, which snowballed into a major issue resulting in a public apology from Revanth Reddy himself.
Komatireddy also utilised the occasion to target TRS MLC Kadiyam Srihari, saying that the latter did not have the stature to criticise him, and asked him to talk to minister K T Rama Rao about his foreign visits.
