The selection of the Nalgonda DCC President has brought internal differences within the Telangana Congress to the fore.
Gummula Mohan Reddy, who has been aspiring for the post, made public comments expressing anguish that he was being treated unfairly in the party.
He alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka had cheated him.
"Every time I asked for the DCC post, they showed stubbornness. Posts are being given only to those who insult others in the Congress. We will not tolerate chasing after those who harm the party," he said.
Mohan Reddy also alleged that his caste, seniority and services were ignored, and that he was sidelined because he was a follower of minister Komatireddy. "Is my seniority and my service useless? Even if I do politics without hurting anyone, they put it aside," he said.
Reddy accused the high command of making caste-based decisions in the DCC appointment. He said that around 20 people who came after him were given corporation posts, and that only "immigrant leaders" were being given major positions in the Congress.
He also said that unnecessary misconceptions had been created against him, and that did not support Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy during the Munugodu by-election.
"If Komatireddy Venkat Reddy wanted, I would get the RTC Chairman post within 24 hours. If I had followed Revanth Reddy, I would have become an MLA or MP. I did not blackmail anyone," he said.
Political analysts opine that these allegations surrounding the DCC chief's post are further exposing the discord and factionalism within the district Congress unit.
