The storm created by the constitution of the party's State committees by the AICC appears to be worsening.
Several senior Congress leaders, including CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and ex-TPCC chief party MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy, too joined the revolt today and made serious remarks against against TPCC chief Revanth Reddy.
The senior leaders met at the residence of the CLP leader in the city. They alleged in the meeting that most of the committee members' posts had been filled with leaders who had come into the party from the TDP. They discussed their next course of action, and decided to launch a Save Congress movement in the State.
Speaking to media persons later, CLP leader Vikramarka alleged that attempts were being made to hand over the Congress to outsiders. He said that leaders who had worked hard for the development of the party did not get posts in the committees, and that he was also hurt a lot on the issue. He asserted that he was not part of the process of the constitution of the committees. He also alleged that some leaders were circulating false messages and insulting remarks against the senior leaders in the social media causing damage to the latter's reputation and weakening the party.
MP Uttam Kumar Reddy, targeting Revanth Reddy publicly, asked whether a leader who had come into the party after changing four political parties could ensure its victory in the next Assembly elections. Commenting on the constitution of the committees, he said that of the 108 leaders nominated in the committees, 58 had come from the TDP. He too alleged that false messages were being circulated in the social media to malign his image and those of other senior leaders. He also claimed that he had never craved for promoting his supporters in the party.
MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy too extended his support to the leaders revolting against Revanth Reddy. He called up CLP Vikramarka and said that he would stand by the senior leaders over any decision taken by them.
TPCC publicity committee chairman Madhu Yashki Goud alleged that leaders without any character were running the party in the State, and that such leaders did not have the stature to question the senior leaders of the party. He said that the Congress was witnessing a fight between the original leaders of the party and the "migrant" leaders.
Former deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha said that he did not join the Congress after changing four political parties. He added that the senior leaders would take the developments in the party to the notice of the party high command, and that they would make efforts to protect the party by carrying all the senior leaders of the party along with them.
