Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy alleged that former MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy had sold out for money when he defected from from the Congress to the BJP.
He claimed that Rajagopal Reddy had defected after getting a contract worth about Rs. 22,000 crore from the union government.
Speaking at a press conference today, Jagadish Reddy said that the people of the Munugodu Assembly constituency didn't wish for the by-election, and that it was forced upon them because of the greedy nature of Rajagopal Reddy.
"In a news channel interview, Rajagopal Reddy openly admitted that he had been in touch with the BJP for the last three years, and that he had got a contract six months back. Rajagopal doesn't have any morals or ethics - he was representing the Congress but was in touch with the BJP. He doesn't have any love and affection for the people of his constituency either, and joined the BJP purely to amass wealth," Jagadish Reddy alleged.
The minister said that the TRS (now BRS) was planning to approach the Election Commission of India to lodge a complaint against Rajagopal Reddy for admitting that he had joined the BJP after obtaining the contract.
He also said that there would be no use in casting a vote in favour of Rajagopal Reddy, and that development would come to a standstill in the constituency if the BJP won. He added that for starters, electric meters would be installed for the agriculture pumpsets if the BJP won the by-election.
"The TRS is also planning to conduct a mass meeting in Munugodu led by KCR. It will probably be held at Chandur village in the last week of this month," Jagadish Reddy said.
