Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman M Kodandaram was arrested in the Siddipet district today.
Kodandaram went to meet the villagers of Bhalapuram village who had lost their lands to the Kondapochamma reservoir. The reservoir is being built in Kondapochamma of Marruk mandal. However, when he was entering the house of one of the victims, the police whisked him away.
Besides Kodandaram, high court lawyer Rachana Reddy was also arrested and shifted to a police station.
The CPI condemned the arrest of Kodandaram, and demanded that the state government release him unconditionally. State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said that the Constitution of India provided all citizens the right to move freely across the nation, and it was atrocious on the part of the TRS government to curb these rights for anyone.
