With the Centre denying permission for the new Secretariat at Bison Polo Grounds, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will lay the foundation for it at its existing location (near Hussain Sagar) on Thursday.
KCR ordered officials to build a sprawling new Secretariat complex at the existing location in nine months, days after AP CM Y S Jaganmohan Reddy surrendered the AP share of the complex to Telangana.
The State government has made arrangements for the function at the D Block, where KCR will participate in the ground-breaking works.
KCR will also participate in the ground-breaking works for the new Assembly complex at Errum Manzil near Panjagutta, on the same day.
The Telangana government will reportedly spend about Rs 400 crore for the new Secretariat, and Rs 100 crore for the new Assembly complex being built at Errum Manzil.
KCR believes strongly in astrology and Vaasthu, and didn't attend office at the Secretariat even once in over 5 years of being in power so far reportedly due to its poor Vaasthu. Unmindful of Opposition criticism that he was wasting tax-payers' money to indulge his Vaasthu beliefs, he strongly batted for the Secretariat to be at Bison Polo Grounds first, and then, when that could not fructify, opted to dismantle the existing structure and build a new one right there.
It is being said that all the 10 blocks in the Secretariat will be demolished in one go, and not in phases. The offices in them will reportedly be shifted to BRKR buildings and elsewhere.
