Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today instructed the officials concerned to act sternly against the use of narcotic drugs in the state and ensure that such drugs were totally eliminated from the state.

The CM has also decided to hold a conference at Pragathi Bhavan on January 28 (Friday), named "State Police and Excise Conference", to take up measures to control and eliminate the use of narcotic drugs in the state.

The conference will be chaired by KCR, and the Home Minister, the Excise Minister, the CS, the DGP, the DGs, all the district SPs, the various Police Commissioners and DCPs, the state excise department SPs and other officers will participate.

In the conference, discussions will take place on the measures to be taken and the guidelines to be followed to curtail and eventually eliminate the narcotic drug abuse.

In this context, the police and excise departments will be put on further alert.

The CM decided to hold the conference in a review meeting on the measures to be taken to control the narcotic drug abuse, with Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP Mahender Reddy and Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand, at his camp office Pragathi Bhavan in the city. The CMO's higher officials and others also participated.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that in narcotic drugs cases culprits however high and mighty should be punished. He asked for a special action plan to be prepared for the strict implementation of the stringent measures, and also instructed the DGP to form a special Narcotic and Organized Crime Control Cell (Counter Intelligence Cell) in the police department with 1,000 members.

The special cell would work under the DGP and would perform special duties to take stringent measures to control and eliminate the narcotics scourge in the state, focusing especially on targeting organized gangs.
