The CM ordered the preparation of a special action plan and the creation of a 1,000-strong team to check the sale and use of drugs in the state.
Hyderabad | 28th January 2022
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today directed the officials concerned to act tough and initiate stern action against the use of narcotic drugs in the state, and completely eliminate it.

The CM ordered the preparation of a special action plan and the creation of a 1,000-strong team to check the sale and use of drugs in the state, and punish those involved irrespective of their stature.

He was speaking at the high-level "State Police and Excise Conference" that he had called at Pragathi Bhavan with Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP Mahender Reddy and other top officials of the police, excise and other departments.

The conference was chaired by KCR and had the Home Minister, Excise Minister, CS, DGP, DGs, all district SPs, Commissioners, DCPs, the various state excise department SPs and other officers concerned present.

The CM directed the participants to take up measures and action on a war footing to control and eliminate the use of narcotic drugs in the state.

He instructed the DGP to form a special Narcotic and Organized Crime Control Cell (Counter Intelligence Cell) in the police department with 1,000 members. The Special Cell will work under the DGP and perform special duties to control and eliminate the narcotic drugs abuse and act against the organized crimes, according to reports.

The CM said that culprits however high and mighty they may be should be punished strictly.

The CM had already held a meeting at Pragathi Bhavan on January 26 on the same issue.
