Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao took serious exception to BJP leaders G Kishan Reddy and K Lakshman saying that the TRS government had made the state debt-ridden by taking on more and more loans.
KCR said that loans were essential for the development of any state and even for the country. There was no state or country that did not take loans for its programs of development, he said. Even the 21 states being ruled by the BJP were taking loans, he informed the House when speaking on the debate on the budget, and challenged the BJP to name at least one state ruled by it in the country that did not take any loans.
He also pointed out that the GDP of the country was Rs 167 lakh crores, and the union government's loans were about Rs 82 lakh crores, which was about 49.5% of the GDP.
"New loans are a part of every budget, and the Telangana government has been taking loans within the allowed limits. And we have introduced several welfare schemes, development programs and pensions," he said.
KCR also asked the BJP members to give names of any farmers who were yet to get their benefits from the government, and said that he would clear their dues in three to four days.
"The government is ready to welcome constructive criticism and suggestions. In the last four years we took several steps for the welfare of farmers, including waiving off Rs 17,000 crores in crop loans, taking up irrigation projects, and offering 24-hour power to the farm sector. We also have to our credit Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, pensions, schools for minorities, and the release of adequate funds for fee reimbursements," KCR claimed.
The CM asked the BJP members to maintain the decency of the House and avoid taking potshots at the government for petty politics.
