BRS leader Dr R S Praveen Kumar today appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up to probe the sensational BRS-era phone-tapping case.
The SIT had recently served notices to him summoning him for questioning. Responding to the notices, Praveen Kumar presented himself at the SIT office located at the Jubilee Hills police station.
Speaking to the media after the inquiry, he said that he had filed a complaint against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy alleging that the CM was tapping the phones of his own party ministers.
"The ministers' phones are being tapped using software like Pegasus and other rare tools available on the dark web. This is why a thorough inquiry must be conducted into the phone-tapping being carried out by Revanth Reddy," he said.
He alleged that the Revanth Reddy government was tapping the phones of businessmen, celebrities and journalists, too. He said that he had lodged the complaint based on a report published in South First Post, and that he would soon submit a formal complaint to the Hyderabad Police Commissioner urging that the CM be called in for questioning.
Praveen Kumar also accused the BJP-led Union government of supporting the alleged phone-tapping activities of the CM, and claimed that both parties were tapping phones.
He also said that he would continue to fight until an investigation was launched into Reddy's alleged phone-tapping.
The BRS leader also accused the CM of using the SIT as a pawn, and said that police officers should not become tools in the CM's regime of political revenge. "This phone-tapping case is part of a conspiracy to arrest the BRS leaders for questioning and opposing the Congress government's false promises. It is clear that the BRS has no connection to the case. Former CM KCR always stood with the people and believed in his good work. He never engaged in phone-tapping," he said.
He concluded by saying that he had answered all the questions posed by the SIT during the inquiry.
