Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had appointed a committee of retired engineers in the past to remove the difficulties in the Pranahita-Chevella project, and that the committee had submitted its report to KCR stating that the project was not feasible.
He claimed that KCR had trampled upon the report submitted by the committee with facts. "KCR wanted to construct the Medigadda barrage, and went ahead and did it without considering the committee's report. Uttam Kumar Reddy has tried to put the facts on the projects before the House. However, the BRS leaders are trying to escape by terming the facts as mistakes," Reddy said.
Reddy also claimed that the people who brought Telangana belonged to the Congress. "It was our Congress MPs that were hurt by pepper spray in Parliament. Where was KCR when the Telangana Bill was introduced in Parliament? Admit your mistake and don't hide it," he said.
He alleged that KCR and Harish Rao had in fact betrayed Telangana. "It is being propagated by the BRS that KCR is the one who gave water to Telangana. KCR is talking as if he taught dance to a peacock. The reality is that he was always trying to rob the State," he said.
Reddy added that Kaleswaram was not a boon for Telangana but a blot on it. "The people trusted you and gave you power for 10 years, and you drowned the State. You should be ashamed of the collapsed project," he said, and asseverated that KCR and Harish Rao were responsible for all the sins in the irrigation projects.
He also said that the foundation stone of the Pranahita Chevella project was laid for Chevalla leader Sabitha Indra Reddy. She had staged a dharna alleging that KCR had done injustice to Chevella with the Kaleswaram project. "Now Sabithamma is not speaking on the issue," Reddy said, claiming that she was silently supporting Harish Rao.
