Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched a blistering attack again today on former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, alleging that the latter had looted the wealth of Telangana State in the name of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).
Speaking to the media after inspecting the the Medigadda barrage in Jayashankar-Bhupalpally district, the CM said that it was a blatant lie that the previous BRS government had given water to one crore acres under the KLIP.
Reddy said that the BRS government had spent Rs 94,000 crore, and had given water to only 98,570 acres under the Kaleshwaram project.
"In addition to this, the electricity bills alone cost Rs 10,500 crore every year, and Rs 25,000 crore have to be spent altogether on bank loans and other payments every year," he said.
The CM said that KCR just spent all his time spreading false propaganda on the project, even though officials had written to L&T that there was a threat to the Medigadda barrage in 2020 itself.
"This situation has arisen for the barrage due to non-maintenance and the negligence of the previous government," Reddy claimed.
He said that Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla were built with the same technology, and that there was no water anywhere in three barrages now, and that if water were filled into these reservoirs, it was not possible to predict what kinds of problems could crop up in the future.
The Chief Minister also slammed KCR for lying on the issues of the KRMB and the Kaleshwaram project at the public meeting in Nalgonda.
"KCR held a public meeting at Nalgonda only to gain sympathy from the people, tactfully covering up the failures of his government and the large-scale corruption in the Kaleshwaram project," Reddy said.
Finding fault with KCR for not attending the ongoing Assembly budget session, the Chief Minister once again requested the Leader of Opposition to attend the House and take part in discussions on the issues of the KRMB and the Kaleshwaram project.
Reddy also slammed the BJP MLAs for staying away from the Medigadda barrage visit, and said that it had been proved again that the BJP and the BRS were friends.
