The special sessions of the Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council, beginning today, are expected to have intense debates on the P C Ghose Commission's findings on the Kaleshwaram project and on the issue of BC reservations.
The Assembly will convene at 10:30 am, and proceedings for the first day are expected to be adjourned after paying tribute to the late BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) will follow, and in the afternoon Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will chair a cabinet meeting.
The session is likely to last four to five days, depending on the circumstances.
The Chief Minister and his cabinet have reportedly resolved to present the irregularities on the Kaleshwaram project highlighted in the Commission's report before the House, prior to initiating any action against those involved in its execution.
There are reports that former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who faces allegations in connection with the project, may abstain from the debate, and that irrigation minister in the BRS regime and BRS MLA T Harish Rao will lead the BRS' pushback. On Friday, Harish Rao met KCR at the latter's Erravalli farmhouse to strategise ahead of the discussion.
BRS leaders have vowed to strongly oppose the government, and have urged the Speaker to allocate ample time to them for their response to the report.
BJP MLAs and MLCs, under the guidance of state unit president Ramchander Rao, have also been holding internal discussions to finalise their strategy for the session.
