Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was unanimously re-elected as the president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for the eighth consecutive term.
KCR's was declared elected unopposed at the TRS plenary at the L B Stadium on Friday amidst loud cheers by thousands of party workers.
Making the announcement, TRS Chief Returning Officer and Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that six sets of nominations papers had been filed on behalf of KCR, and therefore he had been elected unopposed.
KCR, who floated the TRS on April 27, 2001, has been heading the party since its inception. This is his first election as TRS President after becoming the Chief Minister. (INN)
