KCR Directs Officials To Help Hajis From Telangana
The Telangana CM expressed shock over the Mecca stampede in which some 700 people died, and asked to be kept informed of the affected pilgrims from Telangana.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today expressed shock over the Mecca stampede in which some 700 people died and some 863 were injured.
Occurring on the first day of "Eid ul Adha", this is the second such incident in recent times - in a similar incident two weeks ago, 11 persons died and 294 were injured in a crane crash at Mecca.
According to a CMO communique, officials were asked to be in constant touch with the foreign affairs officials in Jeddah on the incident. The Chief Minister directed Muslim Minorities' Welfare Secretary Omar Jaleel to take swift action by coordinating with the Consulate officials in Jeddah, and provide timely succor to the injured and the families of the deceased.
The Chief Minister also asked for the CMO to be kept informed of the affected pilgrims from Hyderabad and Telangana.
The Chief Minister also asked the officials to alert the "Khadimul Ujajs" (officially deputed personnel) to assist the Hajis or pilgrims staying there for the great congregation.
KCR conveyed grief at the incident and expressed hope for a speedy recovery of those injured.
