The Telangana High Court today directed the police to continue their investigation but not arrest the makers of
Pushpa 2, Yelamanchili Ravishankar and Yerneni Naveen, in connection with the Sandhya theatre stampede that left a woman dead and her young son critically injured.
Justice K Srujana passed interim orders after hearing a petition filed by Ravishankar and Naveen seeking the quashing of the case registered by the Chikkadapally police.
Advocate N Naveen Kumar, appearing for the petitioners, told the court that his clients had no involvement in the incident, and argued that none of the charges mentioned in the FIR applied to them.
He said that the petitioners' office staff had informed the police and the Sandhya theatre management about actor Allu Arjun's visit. He also added that on the day of the incident, senior police officers, including the ACP and DCP of the jurisdiction, had inspected the theatre and reviewed the security arrangements.
After hearing the arguments, the court issued notices to the police and the complainant to file their counters in the case. It also directed the petitioners to cooperate with the investigation.
The court also adjourned the hearing on the bail petitions of the theatre manager Adda Sarath Chandra Naidu, and the actor's personal staff members Cheruku Ramesh and Sriramulu Raju.
