Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao reiterated that he was firm on his resignation from Lok Sabha membership.
Talking to reporters after a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday, Kavuri said that he has not changed his stand over his resignation, and that he would insist for its acceptance.
It may be mentioned here that Kavuri had resigned from the Lok Sabha after being a denied a ministerial post in the recent union cabinet reshuffle. He alleged that several junior MPs were elevated as union ministers while the party High Command was continuously ignoring him.
He had faxed his resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, requesting her to forward it to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar for acceptance.
Having failed to convince Kavuri to withdraw the resignation, the senior leaders of the Congress referred the matter to the Prime Minister.
However, despite the one-on-one meeting, the Prime Minister failed to convince Kavuri to withdraw his resignation.
Kavuri said that he would decide his future course of action after consulting his supporters in the Eluru constituency. (INN)
