The Khammam police on Sunday arrested writer and dalit rights activist Kancha Ilaiah, and shifted him to the Khammam II-Town police station.
Ilaiah was in Khammam to attend the Golla Kuruma meeting.
Finding fault with the police action, Ilaiah alleged that the TRS government was using police force to stop him from attending the meeting.
"What is wrong in attending the Golla Kuruma meeting? I am not a political enemy of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Obstructing me is against the Constitution," the writer fumed.
Meanwhile, the police, in defense of their action, said that they had not given permission for the meeting.
