Khammam Rural Sub-Registrar Jekki Aruna and document writer Puchakayala Venkatesh were caught red-handed accepting bribes this afternoon by the ACB's Khammam Unit at the Sub-Registrar office.
They were caught demanding and accepting Rs 30,000 from a complainant in exchange for an official favour - to register a gift deed in the name of the complainant's son.
The deed pertains to a property measuring 2,700 square yards in Survey 713/A2 at the Thallampadu village, jointly owned by the complainant and his wife.
Aruna initially demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000, but accepted Rs 30,000 through Venkatesh. The bribe was accepted while Aruna was sitting inside the complainant's car within the premises of the Sub-Registrar office.
The tainted amount of Rs 30,000 was recovered from Venkatesh.
Both the accused were arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Warangal.
