A day after he was attacked in Korutla town in Jagtial district of Telangana, dalit rights activist and writer Kancha Ilaiah on Thursday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was resorting to violence to silence his voice.
Speaking to mediapersons at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram at a program organized by T Mass on Thursday, Ilaiah said that the writers who were associated with the BJP were busy heaping praises on the saffron party instead of writing on the problems of dalits and tribals.
Ilaiah announced from the dais that he, however, would not be cowed down by the attacks, and would vociferously oppose the atrocities on farmers and dalits.
Also speaking to the media, T Mass convener John Wesley said the members of the outfit had met DGP M Mahender Reddy in connection with the attack on Ilaiah. He demanded on behalf of T Mass that the state government provide immediate protection to the writer.
