Leave Sakshi Alone: KK To Rosaiah
In what can be seen as a pointed barb aimed at the CM, the CWC member today said that the tolerance of political leaders for criticism in the media has reduced.
Known for his outspokenness, CWC member, Press Council member and brash Congress leader K Kesava Rao ("KK") today made a potentially rabble-rousing statement about how Rosaiah is wrong to accuse newspapers of targeting his government.
Referring to Rosaiah's ongoing spat with the Telugu newspaper Sakshi, KK said that newspapers should not be expected to keep buttering up the ruling dispensation, and that press freedom was something the Congress always stood by. He said that only when newspapers keep maligning the government with an agenda should it be considered a serious issue.
In what can be seen as a pointed barb aimed at the CM, he said that the tolerance of political leaders for criticism in the media has reduced.
The CM Rosaiah has been complaining for a while that the slandering of the government in the Sakshi newspaper, owned by Y Jaganmohan Reddy, MP and son of YSR who was pipped to the CM post by Rosaiah after YSR's death, was not being countered by his colleagues in the cabinet. It is common knowledge that support for Jagan is much higher in the party than for Rosaiah, who was the Congress high command's choice to counter the Jagan threat.
